ML Protein Design Intern

Location: US-based remote

Salary: Stipend

Position:

We are looking for interns to work and publish on our proprietary protein design model, Mol.E. You will work with our fast-paced, small team, including directly with the founders. As an intern at a small startup, you’ll get a glimpse into startup life and the many aspects of running a business that are typically difficult to access in a large company.

310.ai offers the opportunity to work and compete at the cutting-edge technology intersection of AI/ML and protein engineering. We have a culture that emphasizes ownership and input. Everyone has ownership over individual work and encouraged to explore and innovate independently. Everyone has a voice on the team and their input is integrated.

Company:

We are poised for an AI/ML-driven digital revolution in our ability to understand and engineer biology. Proteins are the machinery of life and are used in healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing. 310.ai is a generative AI/ML protein design startup.

Protein engineering pipelines are currently highly manual, labor intensive, and require skilled professionals. This has parallels to content creation for images and text in the "pre-AI" era. Now, commercial content creation is being revolutionized by end-to-end models (e.g. GPT3, DALL-E, and Stable Diffusion) that generate highly realistic and compelling images directly from textual prompts. Our vision is to bring an analogous transformation to protein design with a new era of end-to-end generative models for proteins and eventually all molecules. Our goal at 310.ai is to create the tools that will largely replace traditional pipelines and offer a fast, efficient, and entirely new way of designing fit-for-purpose proteins.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to analyze model results and performance
  • Identify and troubleshoot model results
  • Write manuscript describing model for academic publication

Requirements:

  • Pursuing Ph.D. or M.S. in computer science, mathematics, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related fields
  • Experience in computational protein engineering/design and AI/ML
  • Track record of academic and technical publications
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to fully own their work, effectively incorporate feedback, and provide input to the rest of the team
